The JS 460 is equipped with a powerful 6 cylinder, 305 hp turbo-charged and intercooled Isuzu engine. It is coupled with an in-line direct injection fuel system which provides high combustion efficiency for low fuel consumption. The control panel and servo-assisted controls are within easy reach. Also, the AMS (Advanced Management System) monitor is easily visible without obscuring the operator's view from the cab.First time starting, in the coldest of conditions, is assisted by automatic pre-heat in each cylinder. The heavy duty boom and reinforced dipper arm are made for tough excavation work and extraction of hard materials. The AMS maximizes machine performance and minimizes fuel consumption by matching the engine to the hydraulic output.
Four work modes can be selected for greater productivity and economy:
- H-Mode for continuous high production or digging in hard ground
- S-Mode for general excavating or trenching
- L-Mode for lighter duty finishing work or precise positioning
- F-Mode for fine work and liftingThe One-Touch Idle feature on the servo control lever means that engine speed can be dropped to idle at the touch of a button. Auto-Idle can be selected to reduce RPMs when the control levers are not selected. These features help reduce fuel consumption at non-productive times. The track chain is sealed for maximum wearing life - even under the stress of periods of high speed tracking. The heavy duty 'X' frame type undercarriage is integrally welded for strength and durabililty, and provides excellent ground clearance. Underbelly guarding provides added protection for arduous sites.
The pressed steel cab is spacious and sound insulated, with large safety glass areas for excellent all-round visibility. The front window is spring assisted to slide easily into the cab roof, storing both the upper and lower screen safely out of the way.The Cushion Control feature reduces shock to both operator and machine during excavator operations. The cab is mounted on 6 fluid suspension units to help reduce operator fatigue caused by cab vibration especially when tracking on rough terrain. The in-cab pattern change switch allows the operator to easily choose between backhoe or excavator controls and includes a display light to confirm which pattern is selected.
